By accessing or using The Clearcut News, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Use of the Service
You may use the app only for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes unless we explicitly permit otherwise. You agree not to misuse, disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or attempt unauthorised access to the service.
Accounts
Some features require signing in. You are responsible for maintaining access to your Google account and for activity that occurs through your signed-in session.
Content and Availability
We work to keep articles, live updates, shorts, media, and features accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete accuracy, or permanent availability of any content.
User Conduct
You agree not to post unlawful, abusive, defamatory, misleading, infringing, or harmful content through comments, live updates, shorts, or any other interactive feature. We may moderate or remove content and restrict access when necessary.
Reporter Program
To file news you must register as a citizen journalist by giving your own name, a photograph of yourself, the area you live in, and a mobile number you verify by SMS. By registering you confirm that these details are accurate and are your own — a channel, page, brand or company name is not a byline, and a number you do not control is not a contact. Everything you file goes through editorial review before publication; we may reject, edit or remove any submission, and may suspend the ability to file news for inaccurate registration details or violations of these Terms. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you report and for having the right to share any photograph or video you attach.
Location Features
Local news area selection and location access are optional. You may choose an area manually or use the “Use my location” button to suggest an editable area. Location is not collected in the background. Reporters who choose to attach their location to a submission are responsible for confirming that the selected area is accurate.
Intellectual Property
The app design, branding, text, graphics, and other service materials are owned by or licensed to The Clearcut News and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute them except as allowed by law.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on third-party services such as Google Firebase, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, Supabase, and Bunny CDN/Bunny Stream. Their availability and policies may affect your experience, and your use of those services may also be subject to their terms.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Clearcut News will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes become effective means you accept the updated terms.
